RoughRiders Beat Drillers In Tulsa

The Frisco Roughriders were able to keep off a late Tulsa Drillers rally winning 6-5 in Tulsa on Thursday. Frisco leads the three game series 2-0.

Wilfredo Boscan was the starting pitcher in the Roughriders win. Boscan pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs. He had two strikeouts as he gained his fifth win of the season.

The Roughriders started strong outscoring the Drillers 4-1 after three innings of play. Left fielder Jared Hoying led the early rally with a double that drove in two of the three runs in the second inning.

Engel Beltre hit his 13th home run of the season in the ninth inning that proved to be the needed run to keep the Drillers from making a comeback. Beltre finished the night with two hits and two runs in the win.

Tulsa pitcher Josh Outman was the starter for the Drillers and pitched six innings. He gave up six hits and four runs and despite the loss he had six strikeouts for the Drillers. The Roughriders were outhit 12-7 but were able to keep off the rally to keep the Drillers from making the comeback.

The Roughriders look to sweep the series when they take on the Drillers on Friday. First pitch is in Tulsa at 7:05 p.m.
