The Dallas Stars beat the San Jose Sharks in a shootout on Sunday Night in San Jose. Jamie Benn scored the only goal in the shootout to give the Stars a 5-4 victory and end the Sharks 7-game winning streak.
Stars rookie Alex Chiasson scored two goals for Dallas. Chiasson, who was brought up to the NHL on Tuesday, now has 3 goals in his 3 NHL games.
Eric Nystrom and Loui Eriksson also scored goals for the Stars, who most are counting out since trading many familiar players last month. “People are counting us out on two fronts, but we’re going to battle, and you could see that tonight in the resiliency of the group,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said.
The Stars will host the Kings on Tuesday at the American Airlines Center.
