Baylor Rallies To Beat TCU

If you thought I was kidding when saying earlier in the week that, ‘If ESPN College Gameday sets up anywhere other than Waco, Texas they have made a mistake!’

The game of the day would feature over 4 hours of contact, 200 yards of penalties, 119 points combined which set a record for most points in a game between two AP Top Ten Teams.

All week long it was my humble opinion that the Horned Frogs of Texas could and should be able to handle their business to extend a winning streak to five straight.

11 minutes away from a victory and you have a 58-37 lead yet can only muster up 47 total yards while Baylor Bears knock out 24 unanswered points and get the win on a 28 yard field goal by Chris Callahan (who had gone 1 for his last six attempts) to send Baylor to 6-0, TCU to 4-1 and sending the 46,000 inside McLane Stadium into an absolute contented state of bedlam.

Lost in the craziness of an instant classic was a combined 1,267 offensive yards, 119 points, 6 touchdown passes for Bryce Petty (inside track to the Heisman Trophy) with 510 yards passing.

A wasted effort by BJ Catalon who would accrue three touchdowns, 1 via a dramatic

94 yard kickoff return for a touchdown right before halftime.

A muffed punt that led to a field goal for the Bears right before halftime amidst questions about clock handling by the game operator.

Pass interference calls that weren’t…and non-calls that were.

Having just returned from Waco you can be sure that I myself and George Walker were happy in that we picked the right game to attend for historical content.

Lots of videos and comments to share tomorrow with all of you. If you’re TCU and Gary Patterson one must ask why you stopped playing when the lead got to 21?

Late in the game some of the suggested play calling Trevone Boykin left a lot to be desired. Passing to receivers who opted NOT to stay in bounds! Made absolutely no sense.

Baylor got the win but from this vantage point it was more a case of stealing from the cookie jar
