This coming weekend, February 15 – 17, 2013, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) kicks off its 2013 season at MSR Houston in Angleton, Texas. The three-day event marks the first event of the 2013 race season, and brings new classes, new purses and new excitement.

The weekend’s schedule gets rolling on Friday with an all day CMRA-sanctioned racer practice and CMRA license school.

Saturday’s schedule includes a full slate of sprint races for smaller bikes, including our one-of-a-kind, Junior Motard class for racers 8-12 years old. Round One of the CMRA endurance series follows the sprint races with a 2-Hour Mini Endurance and a 4-Hour Big Bike Endurance. Saturday’s racing concludes with a trophy presentation and free trackside racer/spectator meet and greet party.

Sunday’s schedule is jam-packed with a full day’s worth of exciting and competitive Big Bike sprint races. The CMRA is thrilled to announce some exciting changes to the Formula 1 Expert class. Qualifying will be the order of the day for gridding and 212Decals.com has signed on as the sponsor offering $150 cash to the top three qualifiers! The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and P1 Racing have teamed up to help promote Breast Cancer awareness by offering an $11,000 cash purse to be paid out to the top Formula 1 Expert finishers over the course of the 2013 season. The CMRA kicks in another $400 per weekend when the grid reaches 20 or more racers. A portion of each entry fee will be donated to Breast Cancer Research.

Motorcycle road racing doesn’t get much better than CMRA sprint racing where some of the fastest racers in the country grid up to show them how it’s done in Texas.

Gates open each day at 6:00 a.m. and we race rain or shine! Weekend entry into the event is only $20 on Thursday or Friday, Saturday is $15, and just $10 on Sunday. Tickets are good for the entire weekend. Ride your street bike to the event and you’ll pay just $5 for entry on both Saturday and Sunday! Kids 12 and under are free. A spectator lap of the track will be conducted during the lunch break on Sunday, schedule and weather permitting. Bring a cooler or visit the on-site concession at the base of the Control Tower.
