Cowboys clinch losing season

The Dallas Cowboys put up a good fight, but fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 30-27 Sunday night in Arlington.

The Eagles set the tone on the first offensive play of the game, with Michael Vick launching a 60 yard pass to DeSean Jackson to set up the early 7-0 lead.  Dallas would show offense of it’s own as the Cowboys mounted a 10-play drive, capped by a Jon Kitna to Jason Witten 1-yard touchdown pass.

Each team then traded 3 punts each until deep into the second quarter. when Jackson took a Vick pass 37 yards and set up another Eagle touchdown.  The teams then traded interceptions until the Cowboys 2-minute offense put Dallas into position for a 50-yard field goal from David Buehler.

The Cowboys would start the 3rd quarter with another field goal, this one a 43 yarder to bring them within a point of the Eagles at 14-13.

Dallas capitalized on an interception by linebacker Bradie James with a 3-yard touchdown run by Felix Jones to take the lead 20-14.

Philadelphia would get a field goal to come within 3 and then another to tie the game early in the 4th quarter.  DeSean Jackson would again hurt the Cowboys, this time with a 91 yard touchdown to put the Eagles up for good.  Another Eagles field goal would increase the Philadelphia lead 30-20.

The Cowboys would not give up as they mounted a 9-play drive, scoring on a 22 yard pass to Jason Witten with 4 1/2 minutes left.  Unfortunately, Dallas never got the ball back as the defense gave up four first downs, allowing the Eagles to run out the clock.

The loss means the Cowboys will have a losing season for the first time since 2004.
