Cowboys End Preseason With Loss And Injury

The Dallas Cowboys ended the preseason with a 17-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins.  More importantly, the season likely ended for rookie receiver Raymond Radway, who broke his tibia and fibula going for a catch in the end zone with just 3 seconds left to play.  Dallas finishes the preseason with a 2-2 record.

Radway, from Abiliene Christian University is a local product of McKinney, TX.  The 6-3, 103 pound receiver made 3 catches for 62 yards.  Radway was expected to have surgery immediately upon returning to Dallas.  He will probably be placed on the Injured Reserve list for the season.

The game was all about getting playing time for those trying to get a spot on the roster.  With final cuts coming tomorrow, players were given one last chance to prove themselves.  29 Cowboys were scratched from the game and either did not make the trip, or stood on the sideline.

3rd round draft pick, DeMarco Murray showed his rushing and receiving skills as he lead the team in both categories.  Murray rushed for 32 yards on 10 carries and added another 64 yards on 4 receptions.  Murray provided one of the Cowboys few highlights by taking a screen pass for 48 yards on Dallas’ first offensive play.

Another running back trying to win a roster spot, Phillip Tanner, gained 28 yards to make him the team’s leading preseason rusher with 128.  Tanner, from Dallas’ Kimball High School, is making the Cowboys reconsider keeping only 3 running backs.

3rd quarterback Stephen McGee had a solid night, completing 21 of 25 passes for 233 yards.  McGee threw 1 interception and no touchdowns.

The Cowboys made only 1 of 4 field goals, leaving the roster spot for a kicker wide open.
