Cowboys Player Killed, Teammate Arrested

The Irving Police today announced the arrest of Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent. Brent is charged with intoxication manslaughter after the car he was driving crashed and killed teammate Jerry Brown early Saturday.  Brent was not with the team as they traveled to Cincinnati where Brent was expected to start in place of injured Jay Ratliff.

Jerry Brown played linebacker on the Cowboys practice squad.  Brown and Brent played together at the University of Illinois.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones released a statement saying “We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown. At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry’s family and all of those who knew him and loved him.”
