Nelson Cruz hit a grand slam off Angels ace Jered Weaver to lead the Texas Rangers to a 13-6 rout of the L.A. Angels.  With the series win, the Rangers moved to an 8 game lead over the Angels in the AL West.  “It’s important to win games against the teams in your division, there’s no doubt about it. The most important thing is to win games and to win series and we’re able to get another series under our belt. To be honest with you, I’m not really worried about them. I’m worried about us and what we need to do to win games,” said Ian Kinsler.

Weaver could only last 3 1/3 innings as he gave up 8 runs on 10 hits.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus and Cruz both had big days at the plate with each going 4-for-5.  Josh Hamilton, who had hit 9 home runs in the last 7 games, did not hit a round-tripper, but did have 3 RBIs.  Hamilton’s 44 RBIs lead the American League.  “It’s a fun lineup to be a part of. Every night somebody steps up or all of us or the bottom of the lineup,” Hamilton said of his team.

Texas starting pitcher Neftali Feliz went 6 innings for the win.  Feliz allowed 4 hits while striking out 5.

The Rangers improve to 23-12 and will host a series with the Royals beginning tonight.
