Darvish Puts Rangers Back On Track

Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish kept the Oakland A’s in check while the Rangers found their offense for a 4-1 victory Wednesday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Darvish gave up a double to the very first batter, who ended up scoring the only Oakland run, then retired 15 of the next 17 batters he faced.  Darvish struck out 7 in his 7 2/3 innings while allowing just 4 hits as he improved his record to 6-1.

The Rangers needed just one good inning of offense, as they scored 4 runs in the 4th inning.  Josh Hamilton led off the inning with a single, which extended his hitting streak to 16 games.  Adrian Beltre followed with a home run to right field.  Another hit by Nelson Cruz and a walk earned by Yorvit Torrealba led to an RBI single from Craig Gentry.  Elvis Andrus also hit an RBI single to bring home Torrealba.

Hamilton would finish with 2 hits on the night, as would Andrus and Gentry.  Hamilton’s streak is the longest active hitting streak in the American League.

The Rangers and A’s play again this afternoon in Arlington.
