Yu Darvish extended his record to 4-0 on the season as the Texas Rangers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 Monday night in Toronto. Darvish struck out 9 over 7 innings for the victory. Darvish isn’t getting too exited about his fast start, “It’s only April. So I’m not thinking about how I did this month. Right now all I’m thinking about is preparing well for the next one.”
Edwin Encarnacion hit a home run in the 4th inning for the Blue Jays, the first home run Darvish has given up.
The Rangers answered with back-to-back home runs in the 7th inning from Mitch Moreland and Craig Gentry.
Texas took an early lead in the game when Adrian Beltre scored on a Nelson Cruz double in the second inning. The lead was extended when Elvis Andrus sent Ian Kinsler home with a double in the 3rd inning.
Josh Hamilton sat out the game while recovering from a stiff back. Rangers manager Ron Washington said Hamilton is day-to-day.
Texas and Toronto play again tonight at 6:07pm.
