When Nolan Ryan steps down as controlling owner of the Texas Rangers at the end of October, Ray Davis will take his place.

Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig made the announcement in Boston on Thursday before Game 2 of the World Series.

“It hasn’t been quite determined, but (Davis) will be the control person,” Selig said.

Per MLB rules, each team is required to have one person designated as the lead owner.

Davis is expected to be confirmed as the Rangers’ control person when the owners and general managers meet Nov. 11-13 in Orlando, Fla.
