DFW’s Troy Taylor wins Limited Modified US National Dirt Track Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 18, 2010) – Fort Worth’s own Troy Taylor picked up the Limited Modified win in Saturday night’s U.S. National Dirt Track Championship, earning his second Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track win before an estimated crowd of more than 8,000.

Taylor started on the pole and led the entire 30 laps of the event, finishing ahead of a pair of Texans with Billy Melton (No. 10M), of Longview, in second and Paul White (No. 2W), of Temple, in third. Taylor’s last win at TMS came in 2007 during the Lone Star Nationals.

“I feel very fortunate to win at Texas Motor Speedway,” Taylor said. “This is a special place to me. I’ve had some good races here, but it seems recently that I have this place figured out.”

Corpus Christi native Steve Whiteaker Jr. (No. 189) took the Modified win while Ray Moore, (No. 93) of Haughtan, La., picked up the O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Model victory. It was the first win for both at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.
