FORT WORTH, Texas (July 9, 2012) – The Eli Young Band, country music’s fastest-rising group with its hit single “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” will return to North Texas where its growing popularity all started as the group will headline the AXE Salute Our Troops Pre-Race Show at Texas Motor Speedway prior to the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Nov. 4.

The Eli Young Band, whose hit single already has reached gold status and is the fastest-rising single of the band’s young career, will take the stage on the frontstretch at 12:20 p.m. CT and perform an hour-long concert that will lead up to the excitement of the eighth race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, the AAA Texas 500 that begins at 2 p.m.

Their current hot single “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” enters its 29th week on the Billboard country charts and ranks No. 2, edging closer to overtaking the current No. 1 hit “Drunk On You” by Luke Bryan. The song also ranks No. 30 on Billboard’s Hot 100, No. 16 on Radio Songs and No. 47 on Digital Songs.

The foursome of Mike Eli (lead singer), James Young (guitarist), Chris Thompson (drummer), and Jon Jones (bass) formed in 1999 while they were attending the University of North Texas in

nearby Denton. Starting as a Dallas/Fort Worth-area band, the group has emerged as one of the brightest, up-and-coming groups in country music.

Just 11 years old, the band has already amassed several honors and continues to make an impact in the country music industry. In 2011, the band reached new heights with its popular single “Crazy Girl.” The song climbed the country charts to No. 1 and earned the band its first platinum record while also being awarded “Song of the Year” at the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards.

“Crazy Girl” is one of the group’s many popular singles, which also includes “Always The Love Songs,” “When It Rains,” “Radio Waves” and “Guinevere.”

“The AXE Salute Our Troops Pre-Race Show will serve as quite a homecoming party for North Texas’ own Eli Young Band,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “They have taken country music by storm in the past few years and I’m sure fans – both those who remember that college band trying to make a name from themselves in 1999 and the new throughout the country – can’t wait to catch them live as the band is reaching the pinnacle of their career.”
