Gordon Wins Pole For 2009 Dickies 500

Fort Worth – Jeff Gordon will start on the pole for Sunday’s Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

This is Gordon’s 68th pole of his career, and the 1st of the season. He has won a pole in 17 consecutive seasons.

Kasey Kahne will start 2nd. This will be his 7th top-10 start in 11 races at Texas.

Kurt Busch starts 3rd, he has started in the top-10 in half (17 of 34) of the races this season.

Rounding out the top 5 are Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader Jimmy Johnson starts 12th.

Gordon, who is 3rd in the points chase behind Johnson and Mark Martin is doing all he can to catch the leader.  “We’re focused on ending this season the best we possibly can…we want poles, we want wins.”

The Dickies 500 will start Sunday at 2:00pm at the Texas Motor Speedway.
