The Texas Rangers began their road trip with a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres Monday night.

The Rangers scored 2 runs in the first inning on single by David Murphy which scored Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre.  Though it would be the only runs in the game for the Rangers, it was enough as starting pitcher Matt Harrison held the Padres to a just one run.

Harrison went 6 innings to earn his 9th win of the season, 7 of them on the road.  The Padres’ run in the first inning was the first run allowed by Harrison since June 3, a span of 16 1/3 innings.  Harrison’s 9 wins are the most by anyone in the American League.

Mark Lowe, Mike Adams, and Joe Nathan each pitched a scoreless inning.

Texas could only muster 5 hits in the game off San Diego pitcher Jason Marquis, 2 of them by Ian Kinsler.

The Rangers and Padres will face off again tonight in San Diego.  First pitch is scheduled for 9:05pm.  Scott Feldman takes the mound for Texas, still searching for his first win.  Josh Hamilton is expected to return to the starting lineup after missing 4 games with a stomach virus.
