FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU women’s basketball guard Zahna Medley was one of five student-athletes named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team as voted on by the league’s head coaches, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Medley was picked to repeat after earning All-Big 12 First-Team honors last season when she ranked fifth in the league with 17.1 points per game and posted the second-most 3-pointers (80) and the third-most points (564) in a season in TCU history.

The Springfield, Ill., native was also tabbed to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team last season after erupting for 32 points and six 3-pointers against No. 7 West Virginia, both setting TCU tournament records.

Medley enters her junior campaign in the Purple and White needing just 48 points to become the school’s 14th 1,000-point scorer while also ranking first in career scoring average (15.1 ppg) and sixth in 3-pointers made (157).

Medley has also starred in the classroom at TCU, earning Academic All-Big 12 Second Team and Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll accolades as a sophomore.

TCU opens the 2014-15 season on Nov. 14 against Houston Baptist under the direction of first-year head coach Raegan Pebley. The Horned Frogs will play the 2014-15 campaign at the University Recreation Center while TCU’s basketball facility undergoes a $59 million renovation.
