Texas Motor Speedway is hosting a 2-day NASCAR tire test for Goodyear.   In addition to testing the tire compound, this will mark the first time that a fuel-injected stock car will run on Texas Motor Speedway’s 1.5-miletrack.  NASCAR mandated the move from carburetor engines to an electronic fuel injection system for the 2012 season.

Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and Denny Hamlin are participating in the two-day Goodyear tire test. For the drivers it will provide much needed seat time as they prepare for the opening of SpeedWeeks leading to the season-opening Daytona 500. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series officially returns to the track Friday, Feb. 17, with Budweiser Shootout practice and follows with Daytona 500 practice and the Budweiser Shootout on Saturday, Feb. 18. Qualifying for the Daytona 500 gets underway on Sunday, Feb. 19. On-track action continues with the Gatorade Duel at Daytona on Thursday, Feb. 23, and SpeedWeeks culminate with the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The drivers participated in a “Gear Up For The Green Flag” event at TMS on Tuesday night, where they had a chance to interact with fans and join track president Eddie Gossage for a question and answer session.  The drivers, along with Gossage and a pair of the TMS Great American Sweethearts, played in a fun parody of the 70’s game show “Match Game” with fans selected from the audience.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to Texas Motor Speedway for the Samsung Mobile 500 on Saturday, April 14. For the second consecutive year the Sprint Cup Series will compete under the lights on the fast 1.5-mile speedway.
