No. 5 TCU Equestrian moves to 4-0

HUDSON OAKS, Texas – No. 5 TCU captured three MVP accolades on Sunday en route to a 15-5 victory over Delaware State at October Hill Farm.

With the win, the Horned Frogs moved to 4-0 on the season and have now won five-straight regular season matches dating back to last spring. The Purple and White simply dominated the Hornets, who are receiving votes in the National Poll, outscoring DSU, 1,550.5-1,428.5.

TCU cleaned up in Hunt Seat Sunday, recording an 8-2 decision, while also posting a score of 849-795. Senior Jessica Hagen led all riders in Equitation on the Flat, downing Kayla Blair, 94-72. With the win, the California native earned MVP accolades, which is her first honor of the season. Victoria Giachino and Tassie Munroe were also victorious Sunday, scoring victories over Amanda Hotz and Ashley Butler, respectively. Finally, senior Milana Trimino posted an 89-86 win over Caroline Foltz.

In Equitation over Fences, junior Taylor Frederick collected MVP honors with

an 88-73 upending of Hotz. With the win, Frederick moved her season record to 3-0. Victoria Lee and Callie Selchau also scored victories, while Alicia Turner recorded the Horned Frogs final point, riding Cosmo to a 78-75 decision over Butler.

Just like Hunt Seat, the Frogs cruised to an easy victory in the Western events Sunday, claiming a 7-3 overall decision, while also outscoring the Hornets, 701.5-633.5.

Courtney Chown continued her dominance Sunday in Horsemanship with a 75.5-73 victory over Brittany Good. With the win, Chown moved to 3-0 on the season and collected her first MVP accolade. Sophomore Lexie Estrada tallied a point for the Frogs Sunday as well with a 74-71.5 decision over Brittni Collins, while junior Lyndsi Hardin posted a 73-72 victory over Shelby Bonneville. Finally, senior Ashley Aikman rounded out the TCU scoring with a 74-69.5 dismantling of Jennifer Pierson.

In Reining, Kelly Morris defeated Hotz, 73-68, while Devin Spencer was also victorious for the Frogs Sunday. Senior Kelsey Huffman tallied the final point for TCU wtih a 69.5-66 decision over Alicia Maynard. The victory for Huffman, which moved her to 3-0 on the season, was with the horse Charro, who she had never rode before Sunday’s outing.

The Horned Frogs will take on Baylor next Friday night at the Fort Worth Stock Show. The competition against the Bears will consist of only five western riders from each team and be scored in a dual format. Competition is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
