COLORADO SPRINGS – TCU freshman Simona Parajova is the Mountain West Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Parajova went a combined 4-0 last weekend at the Mountain West Women’s Tennis Championship in San Diego, helping the Horned Frogs to their fourth conference tournament title in school history.

Playing the No. 2 position, the Zvolen, Slovakia, native’s 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 win over San Diego State’s Emma Cioffi in Sunday’s championship match clinched a 4-2 win for the Frogs. Parajova, ranked No. 119 in the nation, also added a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Wyoming’s Simona Synkova in Saturday’s semifinal match.

In doubles play, Parajova and Gaby Mastromarino continued their remarkable spring as doubles partners, adding wins in both matches. On Saturday against Wyoming, the duo knocked off Jessica Parizher and Silviya Zhelyzkova, 8-6, to clinch the doubles point.

The Frog tandem provided an 8-4 downing of Cioffi and Laura Antonana Iriarte in Sunday’s championship match to help the Frogs win yet another doubles point. This spring, Parajova and Mastromarino are 16-1 as doubles partners.

The honor from the league is the first of Parajova’s TCU career and the fifth time this season a TCU player has earned the award. Last week, Parajova was an All-Mountain West selection for singles play.
