After grand jury information surfaced indicating former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky had inappropriate and illegal contact with children on Penn State property, information has come out indicating that persons in authoritative positions were aware of the contact and failed to take neccessary action to prevent further contact and inform law inforcement officials.  As a result, the Penn State Board of Trustees has removed university president Graham Spanier and legendary football coach Joe Paterno, effective immediately.

Spanier had been the university’s president since 1995.

Joe Paterno has been at Penn State for 61 years, in the head coach role since 1966.  He is the winningest coach in college football history.

Earlier in the week, Athletic Director Tim Curley took a leave of absence and Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Gary Schultz resigned from the university.  Both men have been charged with failing to report the incident.
