Rangers Beat Mets

Adrian Beltre, Michael Young, and Josh Hamilton each belted 2-run home runs to ease the Texas Rangers past the New York Mets Friday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Beltre’s home run in the first inning would be enough by itself in the 8-1 win by the Rangers.  Hamilton’s homer in the 8th inning is the 100th of his career.

Starting pitcher Matt Harrison went 7 innings, giving up just one run while striking out 4.  Harrison improves to 6-6 on the season, which has seen him face a plethora of minor injuries this season.

Shortstop Elvis Andrus left the game with a sprained left wrist suffered during a headfirst slide while stealing 2nd base.

A sellout crowd was on hand to see not only a rare appearance by the Mets, but also NBA Champion Dallas Maverick superstar Dirk Nowitzki throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Rangers host the Mets again this afternoon as interleague play continues.
