Rangers Can’t Hold Lead, Lose To Tribe

The Texas Rangers took a 4-3 lead into the 9th inning with star closer Neftali Feliz on the mound.  Unfortunately, Feliz gave up 3 runs on 3 hits to garner his 6th blown save of the season.  Cleveland scored once more to win the game 7-5.

Texas brought in 2 relief pitchers at the trade deadline who are considered closers, but manager Ron Washington still has confidence in Feliz.  “The problem tonight was the Cleveland Indians,” Washington said. “Give them credit. They put some at-bats together on our closer and beat us.”

The Rangers’ bats were mostly silent on the night, with the exception of catcher Yorvit Torrealba, who has 3 of the team’s 8 hits.

The temperature at the Ballpark registered 106 degrees at first-pitch, the highest recorded in the history of the venue.

Texas remains a game ahead of the Angels for 1st place in the AL West.  The Rangers end the home series with Cleveland tonight.
