The Texas Rangers (33-25) lost to the Oakland Athletics on Thursday by a score of 7 to 1 in front of a crowd of 14,779 in Oakland, California. The Rangers defeat marks the first series win by the Athletics this year. The Rangers are now 2-5 on the road following the loss.

Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers dealt with control as he gave up 6 runs off of 5 1/2 innings with 6 errors. Darvish gave up a season-high six walks with 4 walks leading to a score by the Athletics. He was also responsible for a hit-batter which led to a score. Darvish is now 7-4 for the Rangers with an ERA of 3.72.

Manager Ron Washington believes that the Rangers’ decline in hitting is only temporary and soon the Rangers will return to their hitting form.  “It’s obvious we’re not swinging the bats the way we’re capable,” Washington said. “We just have to be patient and we’ll come out of it.”

A’s pitcher Brandon McCarthy pitched for seven innings and allowed 3 hits and a run with one error. McCarty has a record of 5-3 with an ERA of 2.79. Center fielder Coco Crisp led the Athletics offense with 4 RBIs, 2 hits and a home run in the third inning. The Athletics are now 26-32 for the season following the win.

The Rangers look to improve their record on Friday when they head to San Francisco to take on the Giants. First pitch is at 9:15 p.m.
