Rangers defeat A’s 4-2

The Texas Rangers defeated the Oakland A’s 4-2 to extend their lead to 1 1/2 games in the AL West.  In coming from the cellar, the Rangers have won 7 of their last 10 games, including 4 in a row.   Texas has a 6-1 record against teams from the division.

Rangers starting pitcher Rich Harden went 7 scoreless innings, only giving up 2 hits in his best outing of the year.  Harden struck out 9 and gave up no walks. 

Texas lost the shutout when Frank Francisco gave up a 2 run homer in the 9th to Kevin Kouzmanoff before Neftali Feliz came in and retired the side.

Rangers First Baseman Justin Smoak got his 2nd career homerun in the 9th to seal the win.
