Rangers Defeat Astros In Extra Innings

The Texas Rangers came from behind to defeat the Houston Astros 5-4 in 11 innings Tuesday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Despite a less-than-stellar outing by starting pitcher C.J. Wilson, who gave up a career-high 11 hits, the Rangers offense had enough firepower to win.  Wilson went 6 2/3 innings, giving up all 4 Houston runs.  Mark Lowe, Neftali Feliz, and Yoshinori Tateyama combined to hold the Astros scoreless for the final 4 1/3 innings.  Tateyama is credited with the win, his first of the season.

Texas relied on power at the plate to get runs.  Michael Young, Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz all hit solo home runs in the game before Mitch Moreland connected on a walk-off home run in the 11th inning to give the Rangers the victory.

The Rangers made 2 more fielding errors as they continue to struggle with the gloves.

Game 3 of this interleague series will be tonight at the Ballpark.
