Rangers Defeat Twins

The Texas Rangers scored 10 runs for the second consecutive night at they topped the Minnesota Twins 10-6 Thursday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Rangers’ superstar Josh Hamilton accounted for half the runs with a 5-RBI night.  Hamilton was 2-for-3 at the plate.  Adrian Beltre hit his 23rd home run of the season.

Texas starting pitcher Roy Oswalt gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 1/3 innings.  Reliever Mike Adams is credited with the win to even his record at 3-3.  Joe Nathan earned his 25th save of the season.

Minnesota pitcher Scott Diamond was ejected from the game after throwing a pitch behind Hamilton’s head.  Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was also ejected from the game for arguing with umpire Wally Bell.

The win gives Rangers manager Ron Washington 500 career victories.  “I’m very happy. I just hope I can stay here long enough to win 500 more,” said Washington.

The Rangers hold the best record in the American League at 73-51.  They have won 5 of the last 6 games.

Matt Harrison will be on the mound as the Rangers host the Twins again tonight.  First pitch is at 7:05pm at Rangers Ballpark.
