Rangers Finish Homestand With Win

The Texas Rangers ended their home series against the Mariners with a 5-3 victory Thursday afternoon at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Starting pitcher Derek Holland gave a quality start, going 7 1/3 innings and allowing just 2 runs.  Holland allowed 5 hits, no walks, and struck out 8 while earning his first victory of the season.

Koji Uehara finished the 8th inning for Holland before giving way to Mike Adams to earn the save.  

Ian Kinsler continued to be hot at the lead-off spot, going 3 for 4 and scoring 3 runs.  Michael Young moved to the No. 2 spot and also went 3 for 4, with 4 runs batted in.  Young hit a 2-run home run in the 5th off Jason Vargas.

Yorvit Torrealba generated 2 hits in the game and Alberto Gonzalez was the only other Ranger with a hit.  The middle of the Texas lineup was lifeless, going 0 for 14.

The Rangers will take their 5-2 record on the road for a 9-game stretch beginning in Minnesota Friday night.
