Rangers Increase Lead With Win

The Texas Rangers increased their AL West lead to 4 1/2 games with 10 to play after a 7-6 victory in Seattle Saturday night.

Josh Hamilton led the Rangers offense with 4 hits, including a solo home run in the 3rd inning.  Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre also went long for Texas.  The Rangers generated 14 hits on the night.

Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis earned his 13th win on the season.  Lewis went 5 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs and striking out 7.  Lewis was aided by a bullpen that combined for 3 1/3 no-hit innings.  Darren Oliver struck out 3 in 1 1/3 innings while Michael Gonzalez struck out the lone batter he faced.  Mike Adams retired the only 2 batters he saw and Neftali Feliz struck out two of the three batters against him.  In all, the bullpen retired 10 straight.

The Rangers close out the series in Seattle today before heading to Oakland on Tuesday.
