Rangers Lose Game 3

Comerica Park in Detroit has not been good to the Texas Rangers. Going in to game 3 of the ALCS, the Rangers were 23-33. After the Tigers 5-2 victory Tuesday night, make that 23-34. Even Colby Lewis’s unbeaten playoff streak was no match for Detroit. Lewis gave up 8 hits in 5 2/3 innings to earn his first postseason loss. Lewis allowed 2 home runs while striking out 6.
The Rangers started the game with 3 straight hits to take a 1-0 lead. After that, Texas could only scatter 5 hits for the rest of the game as Detroit ace Doug Fister settled down and continued his mastery over the Rangers.
Only catcher Yorvit Torrealba had a good night at the plate, going 3-for-3 and scoring a run.
Texas reliever Koji Uehara could not last a complete inning, as he gave up 2 hits, including a home run to Michael Cabrera. Darren Oliver and Yoshi Tateyama finished the game for the Rangers.
The Rangers still have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series. Game 4 is today at 3:19pm in Detroit. Matt Harrison takes the mound for Texas.
