Rangers Lose, Magic Number at 2

The Texas Rangers lost their bid to sweep the Oakland A’s with a 4-3 defeat in Oakland.  Texas led 3-1 in the 6th inning but gave up runs in each of the final three frames.  Starting pitcher Colby Lewis went 6 1/3 innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out 7.  Mike Adams allows 2 hits in the 8th to give up the winning run.

The Rangers had a good night at the plate, scattering 10 hits, but could not generate a run after the 6th inning.  Josh Hamilton, Michael Young, and Yorvit Torrealba all had 2 hits for Texas.   Catcher Torrealba left the game in the 8th inning after suffering a headache and nausea from being hit in the mask by a foul ball.

Though the Rangers lost, their magic number dropped to 2 after the Angels also lost.

Texas returns home tonight to host the Mariners at the Ballpark in Arlington.
