The Texas Rangers could not generate enough offense to complete the sweep of the Oakland A’s on Sunday. Texas was held to just 1 run in the game and fell 3-1 at the Ballpark in Arlington.
Starting pitcher Yu Darvish struck out 11 in 7 innings pitched. He gave up the 3 runs on just 5 hits. It is the first home loss of the season for Darvish and drops his record to 10-5.
The lone Texas run came in the 3rd inning when Ian Kinsler doubled and scored on a single by Elvis Andrus.
Andrus, Nelson Cruz, and Yorvit Torrealba each had 2 hits for the Rangers, but Andrus and Torrealba were each picked off once and each caught stealing.
The Rangers will have the day off before opening a road series in Chicago on Tuesday. Roy Oswalt (2-0) will attempt to continue his undefeated record on the mound against the White Sox.
