Rangers Lose To Blue Jays 7-3

The Texas Rangers lost on the road to the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Texas pitcher C.J. Wilson lasted just 3 2/3 innings as he gave up all 7 runs on 7 hits, including a 2-run homer to Edwin Encarnacion in the 1st inning.  Rangers manager Ron Washington took it in stride, “We didn’t make plays we should have made. C.J. is a battler, but it didn’t happen for him today. When you play this game long enough, you’re going to have some spots where things don’t go your way. That’s why they call it a season.”

The Rangers’ defensive woes continued, as Andre Blanco and Josh Hamilton each made an error.

Offensively, the middle of the Rangers lineup provided the only spark.  Hamilton, Michael Young, and Mike Napoli each went 2-for-4, as did David Murphy.

Texas remains just 2 games ahead of the L.A. Angels for first place in the AL West.   The Rangers travel next to Detroit to open a series against the Tigers on Tuesday night.
