Rangers Lose To Brewers

MILWAUKEE — Wily Peralta went six innings and the Brewers tagged Texas starter Justin Grimm for five runs in the first inning in a 6-3 Milwaukee victory over Texas Tuesday at Miller Park.

Peralta held the Rangers to three runs — only two earned — on five hits with two strikeouts and won for the third time in his last four starts. In those outings, Peralta has allowed seven runs on 10 hits for a 3.37 ERA.

After being held to just one run on eight hits their last time out, the Brewers hit Texas starter Justin Grimm quickly.

Norichika Aoki and Jean Segura led off with base hits and Aoki scored on Ryan Braun’s single to right. Aramis Ramirez popped out to third and Rickie Weeks flew out to left to give Grimm the first two outs, but Carlos Gomez doubled to center making it 3-0 Milwaukee.

Yuniesky Betancourt worked the count to 2-1 before ripping a changeup over the wall in left-center, giving Milwaukee a 5-0 lead before Martin Maldanado ended the inning with a strikeout.

The Rangers got one back in the second on Mitch Moreland’s solo home run. Peralta retired 11 of the next 12 before pinch-hitter Jeff Baker led off the Texas sixth with a base hit.

After Ian Kinsler popped out to short, Elvis Andrus doubled to put runners at second and third. Baker would score on a Ramirez error and Nelson Cruz’s sacrifice fly made it 5-3 before Peralta worked out of the jam and gave way to a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the inning.

Milwaukee added an insurance run in the seventh — a two-out solo home run by Ramirez, his first of the season.

Grimm (3-2) suffered his second consecutive loss after giving up five runs on eight hits with three walks while striking out seven.
