Rangers pound Yankees

Cliff Lee and the Texas Rangers beat up the New York Yankees from both sides of the plate.  Lee pitched 8 innings, striking out 12, while allowing no runs on only 2 hits.  The Rangers scored twice in the 1st inning, then got 6 more insurance runs in the 9th for the 8-0 victory and a 2-1 series lead.

Lee’s 12 strikeouts made history as he became the first pitcher ever to record double-digit strikeouts in 3 games of the same postseason.  Lee’s night wasn’t perfect however, as he gave up a base on balls for the first time this postseason.

Josh Hamilton got the Rangers going with a 2-run home run in the first inning which proved to be all that was needed.  The Texas bats came alive again in the 9th inning as they exploded for 6 more runs.

Netfali Feliz came on to pitch in the 9th and retired the Yankees in order, including 2 strikeouts.
