Rangers Return To ALCS

The Texas Rangers return to the ALCS on the bat if Adrian Beltre.  Beltre hit 3 home runs in the Rangers 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays to clinch the series 3 games to 1.

Ian Kinsler also belted a home run in the 1st at-bat of the game to set the tone for the Rangers.   “This is the reason I wanted to sign with this team, to put a ring on my finger,” said Beltre.  “We’re looking pretty good, but we still have a long way to go.”

Pitcher Matt Harrison went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs while striking out 9.  Rangers manager Ron Washington took no chances as he put in Derek Holland as a reliever for an inning and a third before going to the bullpen of Mike Adams and Alexi Ogando.  Neftali Feliz finished the game for his third consecutive save.

The Rangers will play the winner of the New York Yankees – Detroit Tigers series.   The game on Saturday will be either in New York if the Yankees win or at the Ballpark in Arlington if Detroit wins.  “Anybody you play in the playoffs is going to be tough,” said Kinsler.
