Rangers Roll Past A’s

What looked to be a classic pitcher’s duel ended up a rout as the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics 7-1 Saturday afternoon in Oakland.

Oakland pitcher Trevor Cahill had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning when the Rangers came to life.   Yorvit Torrealba got the Rangers offense started with a single in the sixth, followed by Ian Kinsler’s RBI double.  By game’s end, every player in the Rangers lineup had at least one hit.  Texas finished with 11 hits overall.

Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis earned his 11th win of the season with a 6 1/3 inning performance.  Lewis only allowed 1 run on 3 hits.

The Rangers extended their lead for the AL West title to 3 games over the L.A. Angels.  Texas plays again in Oakland on Sunday afternoon.
