Rangers Rout Blue Jays

The Texas Rangers opened their homestand with a 12-2 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Nelson Cruz went 4-for-4 at the plate with a career-high 8 RBIs.  “Your teammates have to get on base, you have to have the swings you need and then you have to get lucky, getting hits [in] every at-bat,” said Cruz.  Michael Young also went 4-for-4 in the game.

Pitcher Colby Lewis gave up just 2 hits in 6 2/3 innings, earning his 10th win of the season, 5th in a row.  Lewis struck out 5.   “He had great command tonight,” said Rangers manager Ron Washington, “and he used his breaking ball, his fastball, his changeup down in the zone. He certainly didn’t make many mistakes.”

Not all was good for the Rangers, as Adrian Beltre went out with a strained hamstring.  Beltre will undergo an MRI today.

The Rangers host the Blue Jays again tonight at the Ballpark.
