Rangers Still One Game Away

The Texas Rangers are still a game away from clinching the AL West title after losing to the Oakland A’s 4-3 Monday night in Oakland.  The Rangers and A’s have 2 games remaining and the division is on the line.  The one-game lead held by Texas is the closest margin since April.  The A’s clinched at least a wild-card spot with the victory.

Rangers pitcher Martin Perez allowed all 4 runs during 4 innings of work.  The rookie left-hander drops to 1-4 on the year.

Texas batters could only generate 6 scattered hits in the game off A’s pitcher Jarrod Parker.

The Rangers have lost 7 of the last 11 games and need to win just one more to clinch their 3rd straight division title.  “We’re not worried about anything. We just have to go out tomorrow and try to win the division,” said catcher Mike Napoli.

Texas will place Matt Harrison (18-10) on the mound for tonights game.  First pitch is set for 9:05pm.
