Rangers Sweep Orioles

The Texas Rangers completed a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday night with a 13-5 rout at the Ballpark in Arlington.  The Rangers scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back.  After the Orioles closed to within 2 runs, the Texas offense came alive again, scoring in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th innings.

Alexi Ogando earned his 9th win of the season, going 7 innings and giving up just 4 hits.  He struck out 5.

Shortstop Elvis Andrus went 4-for-4 plus a base on balls as he had a career night at the plate.  Andrus scored once and had 3 RBIs.  Designated hitter Michael Young went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring twice and adding 3 RBIs.  It was the third game in the series where Young has had 3 hits in a game.  Young has now scored 958 times, which ties him for the Rangers record with Rafael Palmeiro.   “It means a lot.  I’ve been here a long time, this is my 11th year with this team, and every time one of these things pops up, it reminds me of the time I spent here. I have tons of good memories and I know that the best is yet to come,” said Young.

Catcher Mike Napoli hit a 3-run home run in the 7th inning to put away any doubts of the Rangers win.

The Rangers host Oakland tonight at the Ballpark.
