Rangers Use Power To Top A’s

Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton blasted late-game home runs to lift the Texas Rangers past the Oakland A’s 3-2 Wednesday night.  With the Rangers trailing 2-1, Kinsler lead off the 8th inning with a home run to left field to tie the game.  With the homer, Kinsler becomes the first 2nd baseman in AL history with 30 home runs, 30 doubles, 100 runs, and 80 walks.  Hamilton came up 2 spots later and smashed an inside pitch over the right field wall for the lead.  It was Hamilton’s league-leading 20th game-winning RBI.

The Rangers win keeps their AL West lead at 5 games with 7 to play.  Their magic number is 3.

Starting pitcher C.J. Wilson went 6 innings, giving up the 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 8.  Wilson now has 206 strikeouts on the season.  Reliever Koji Uehara earned his first win as a Ranger and Neftali Feliz records his 29th save.

The Rangers close out the series against Oakland today before returning home to host the Mariners on Friday.
