Rangers win 3-1 over Royals

The Texas Rangers defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-1 before a packed house at the Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday night.

Starting pitcher Alexi Ogando earned his 3rd win, going 6 innings and striking out 5.  Ogando gave up just one run, a home run by Kila Ka’aihue.

Reliever Cody Eppley made his major league debut with 2 shutout innings before Darren Oliver closed out the save with a perfect 9th inning.  Rangers manager Ron Washington was pleased with Eppley’s performance, “Eppley came in and did a great job. He came in and he wasn’t nervous. He just continued to do what he did in Triple-A, pound the strike zone and get outs.”

Michael Young extended his hitting streak to 13 games, going 2 for 4 in the game.

The Rangers and Royals continue their series today in Arlington at 2:05 pm.
