Rangers Win Streak Ends At 12

The game started like so many others in the winning streak, with the Rangers scoring in the first inning to set the pace against the L.A. Angels.  Unfortunately, after pitching 2 straight shutouts, Derek Holland walked 2 batters who then scored on a Howard Kendrick single to right field.  The Rangers found themselves trailing going into the second inning.  The Angels would extend the lead when Torii Hunter homers off Holland in the 3rd.

Texas would tie the game in the 4th when David Murphy hits a home run, scoring Michael Young.  The Rangers would then seemingly put the game away with a 5-run fifth inning.   The Angels would not go away, with 4 of the first 5 batters getting hits in the 6th inning to end Holland’s night.  Tommy Hunter entered the game for the Rangers and gave up 3 more hits to give the lead back to the Angels.

Hunter is credited with the loss as the Angels held on to win 9-8.

Texas still holds a 4 game lead over the Angels in the AL West.  The teams will play again today as C.J. Wilson faces off against Jered Weaver.
