Rickie Fowler is the latest marquee name to join the PGA Tour’s scheduled return at the Charles Schwab Challenge that is set for June 11-14 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Fowler’s addition to the Charles Schwab Challenge commitment list the same day as world No. 1 Rory McIlroy joined the field for his Colonial debut.

Fowler has a long track record of success at Colonial with seven trips to Fort Worth’s PGA Tour event highlighted by a tie for fifth in 2012.

“It’s always great being back at Colonial,” Fowler said prior to the 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge. “I won the Ben Hogan Award here, a few years back now. I played Colonial a lot early in my career … have had a lot of good finishes here and have always loved playing here. Great town, I typically have a lot of support from the locals as well as some OSU (Oklahoma State) alum and fans that make their way around, so it’s a good place.

“The course is good and Colonial is always in good shape,” Fowler continued. “It’s very playable, with the small greens, you really don’t want to be playing from the rough. It’s a fun golf course, you don’t have to hit a lot of drivers if you don’t want to, but if you’re driving it well, you can push it and play aggressively.”

Fowler joins what is a stacked field at Colonial that already includes six of the top 10 a month out of what is set to be the first PGA Tour event since the Players Championship was cancelled following its first round on March 12.

Fowler is also set to play this weekend in the TaylorMade Driving Relief alongside Matthew Wolff as they take on Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson.
