Scottie Scheffler Discusses the 2025 The CJ Cup Byron Nelson
|Scottie Scheffler is playing a home game this week as the Dallas resident prepares to tee it up at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX. He returns to the event where he made his PGA Tour debut after missing it last year due to the birth of his son.
Scheffler will be paired in the first two rounds with Dallas residents Jordan Spieth and Si Woo Kim.
The No. 1 player in the world spoke to the media ahead of this week’s annual PGA Tour stop. Below are some snippets from his press conference:
Q: Scottie, making your sixth start of the event and your first since 2023 and the site of where you made your PGA Tour debut. What’s it like to be in a place where you’re so comfortable?
Scheffler: Yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I have really good memories of this tournament. This tournament has always treated me really well. I was fortunate to get a spot here when I was a senior in high school. It was my first PGA Tour event. I have a lot of great memories of this event. It’s good to be back. I definitely missed playing here last year. Definitely excited to be back this year.
Q: Speaking of comfort, you’re going to be playing with Jordan Spieth and other Dallas residents. What’s it like having the crowd support you all out here?
Scheffler: Jordan and I got to play out here a couple years ago. I think we played with Willie Z. It was a lot of fun. The crowd was great. Si Woo and I play the same club here at home. We have three guys all from Dallas that will be playing this week and all together. So it should be a lot of fun.
The CJ Cup Byron Nelson is May 1-4 at TPC Craig Ranch.
