SMU Swim team falls to Georgia

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men’s swimming and diving team fell to Georgia 163-132 Saturday at Perkins Natatorium. Senior captain Tom Cole and sophomore Mindaugas Sadauskas led the Mustangs, each earning two individual first place finishes.

“This was a good step forward for us,” head coach Eddie Sinnott said. “Our guys have been training hard since returning from Christmas break. They stepped up today and performed great; they raced aggressively and showed a lot of fight.”

Cole, a butterfly specialist, won both the 100-yard breaststroke (56.06) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:02.76). He took third place in the 200-yard IM (2:00.34) and also helped lead the 200-yard medley relay team to a second place finish (1:31.60).

Sadauskas won both the 50-yard freestyle (20.60) and the 100-yard freestyle (44.69). Sadauskas swam the final leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay squad (3:01.90) as well as the second place 200-yard medley relay.
