SMU Women Lose To Tulane

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women’s basketball team fell to Tulane, 84-60, on Tuesday night at Moody Coliseum.

Tulane (17-5, 8-3 The American) jumped out to a 24-9 lead in the first eight minutes of play, and the Green Wave shot 57 percent from the field in the opening half.

SMU (4-17, 0-10) answered with a 7-0 run just before halftime to cut the lead to 32-26 and the Green Wave would carry a 36-28 lead into the half.

Led by Kolby Morgan, who netted a game-high 18 points, Tulane continued to shoot well after the break. The Mustangs would not come within single digits in the second half, and the Green Wave would hold on for the 84-60 victory.

With two blocks, Alicia Froling set the SMU freshman single season mark for blocks with 42. Sarah Davis held the previous record with 40 in the 2002-03 season. Froling also scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Morgan Bolton and Mikayla Reese both recorded career highs in points for the Mustangs, as Bolton led the team with 13 points and Reese added nine.

Keely Froling also scored in double figures for SMU, recording 10 points and grabbing six boards.

Stephanie Collins made her first start of the season, scoring five points in 13 minutes of action. Aurmani DeGar played a career-high 21 minutes, tallying four assists.

SMU returns to the court for a road matchup at UCF (7-15, 3-8 The American) on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.
