Alex Tagliani knows how to get around Texas Speedway.  For the second consecutive year, Tagliani will sit on the pole at TMS for the Firestone 550.  This is Tagliani’s first pole of the 2012 season, and eight of his IndyCar career.  Today’s qualifying speed was 215.691 mph.

Tagliani gives Bryan Herta Autosport it’s first IZOD IndyCar Series pole.  The team’s previous best start was 3rd at Belle Isle.   “We are very happy to start up front,” said Tagliani.  “I’d like to think that we will be a threat in the race tomorrow night.

Dario Franchitti qualified second, a position he won from in the 2011 race.  Franchitti has qualified in the top-5 in his past six attempts at Texas.

Qualifying third was Graham Rahal, his best start at Texas.  Scott Dixon and Will power round out the top-5.
