TCU made it’s Big12 debut in style on Saturday, winning 56-0 over Grambling State.  The Horned Frogs played for the first time in the renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium and gave their coach, Gary Patterson, the school record for wins.  Patterson has 110 career victories at TCU.

TCU scored on offense, defense, and special teams, all in the first quarter.  Freshman Deante’ Gray returned a punt 70 yards for the Horned Frogs’ first touchdown.  Running back Wayman James scored on a 1-yard TD run.  Elisha Olabode returned an interception 28 yards for a score.  Brandon Carter grabbed a 21-yard pass from quarterback Casey Pachall.

Pachall would strike again in the 2nd quarter, with touchdown passes to Josh Boyce for 12-yards and 66-yards.

TCU went to their backups in the 2nd half, and continued scoring.  Trevone Boykin made a 34-yard TD run, followed by a pass to David Bush for 7 yards and a TD.

Quarterbacks Casey Pachall and Trevone Boykin combined for 17-of-17 passing, a record for most team attempts without an incompletion in an NCAA FBS game. The previous-best mark was Iowa going 12-of-12 against Northwestern on Nov. 9, 2002.

TCU recorded the 10th shutout in Gary Patterson’s 12 seasons as head coach. The Horned Frogs have had at least one shutout in each of the last four years.

TCU racked up 531 offensive yards while holding Grambling State to just 70.  The 70 yards allowed by TCU marked the second-lowest total in the Gary Patterson era at TCU, surpassed only by the 60 yards surrendered to Northern Illinois in the 2006 Poinsettia Bowl.

True freshman Deante’ Gray set a TCU single-game record with 160 punt return yards on just five attempts. The previous mark of 146 yards on seven returns was set by Lindy Berry versus Miami in 1947.

The Horned Frogs won their ninth consecutive game, the longest current streak in the nation.
