TCU loses to UNLV 94-79

FORT WORTH—

Junior guard Hank Thorns scored a career high 21 points and added nine assists, but UNLV shot lights-out from the field to down TCU Wednesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, 94-79.

The loss dropped TCU to 10-15 overall this season and 1-9 in Mountain West Conference play. UNLV improved to 18-6 overall and 6-4 in the MWC.

UNLV made 33-of-54 field-goal attempts (61.1 percent), good for a season-high shooting rate against the Frogs. The squad, which entered the contest shooting under 30 percent from beyond the arc, went 10-for-16 from 3-point range Wednesday.

Thorns put together the top offensive performance of his career while again efficiently directly the Frogs’ scoring attack. He broke the 20-point mark for the first time in his career, while he totaled nine or more helpers for the ninth time this season. Thorns shot 6-of-13 from the field overall, including 3-of-5 from outside the arc, and had only one turnover.
