FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU women’s basketball program announced its 2012-13 Big 12 Conference schedule Wednesday.

The conference sent a total of nine out of its 10 teams to postseason play last season, including seven programs to the NCAA Tournament for a third-straight year.

Overall, the league has hoisted the last two NCAA Championships and has had eight Women’s Final Four appearances since 2002, placing at least one team in the national semifinals four-straight seasons. It leads all leagues with 70 percent of its teams in the NCAA Championship and 90 percent in postseason play.

Since 2000, the Big 12 has made 83 NCAA Tournament appearances, which is second nationally and is one of just two leagues that have had at least six NCAA appearances each year since 2007.

Tip-off times and broadcast information for all games will be announced at a later date. Dates are subject to change based off of television.

The Horned Frogs begin conference play at home on Wednesday, Jan. 2 against defending National Champion Baylor, who went 40-0 last season on its way to the title. Following its trip to 2012 NCAA Tournament participant Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 5, TCU will return home to face Oklahoma, who made

it into the second round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, on Jan. 9.

The Frogs will then play four of their next five on the road, including back-to-back road games with stops at Iowa State on Jan. 12 and West Virginia on Jan. 16, respectively. Both programs return several starters off of squads that played in the NCAA Tournament in 2012. After returning home to face Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 19, TCU will close the month of January on the road at Texas Tech on Jan. 26 and at Oklahoma on Jan. 30.

The Purple and White will begin the month of February with three of its first four at the friendly confines of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, hosting Texas on Saturday, Feb. 2. Following a road game at Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Feb. 5, TCU will return home to face Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 9 and then Kansas on Wednesday, Feb. 13. All four teams made postseason play a year ago, with the Cowgirls claiming the WNIT Championship and Jayhawks advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Following a Feb. 16 contest at Baylor, the Frogs will once again have back-to-back home games against the likes of Oklahoma State on Feb. 20 and West Virginia on Feb. 23. TCU will close the month of February at Texas on Tuesday, Feb. 26 before playing its home finale against Iowa State on Saturday, March 2. The Frogs will close regular season action on Tuesday, March 5 at Kansas.

The 2013 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship, which will be played the weekend before the men’s championship, will take place on March 8-11 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

TCU’s non-conference slate includes four opponents who reached a postseason tournament this past year, including games against Texas A&M and Georgia who both made the NCAA Tournament. In all, the 2012-13 schedule, which features the last two NCAA Champions in Texas A&M and Baylor, should provide a solid test for a young and talented squad, which returns four starters and eight letter winners from last season.
